Warning Policy

Consider this your warning: I do not warn on individual fics.

On Archive of Our Own, they have a "Choose Not To Warn" warning. I have slapped that on all the fics I've uploaded there so far, despite the fact that most of them have nothing to warn for.

Most of my stories do not contain character death, or outright rape and abuse, however, many contain issues of consent and themes that may be triggery. I would rather you view my stories as all being possibly suspect than all being okay unless stated otherwise.

Furthermore, while I am still using pairings in the headers at the moment, I do not consider a pairing listed to be an indicator of a happy ending. It could mean there's sex between them. It could mean feelings are requited. It could mean one character has unrequited feelings towards another. It could even mean one rapes the other.

I have also done away with ratings. I found it too difficult to determine what made a fic adult or not (or the difference between MPAA ratings when I was using those), so I decided to stop wasting my time on it.

If you have a question about a fic, feel free to comment and ask. I am happy to answer specific questions (such as "does this story contain X or Y?", not "does this story have any warnings?") to the best of my ability, including giving a detailed description of the story.

Okay, it had honestly never occurred to me that people would think that! I know there have always been people who feel entitled to a happy ending for their OTP, but it had never occurred to me that these people think that the presence of the pairing name is an indication of a happy ending. Or even a relationship. Huh.

I think that's one of those fandom-specific things, also probably more old-school. Certainly no one in HP would think that, because you have all sorts of rapefest enemy stuff and Death Eater torture. But people from old-school buddy fandoms especially seem to have the idea that a pairing means romance (requited) and a happy ending. (The rating would tell whether there was sex or not.)

Obviously not the way I work, so best to make that clear.

So how would they label a hypothetical fic that started out X/Y and ended X/Z? Surely X/Z shippers would want to know the story contained X/Y as well...

I'm not sure they would have other pairings? XD I mean, the people I'm talking about are the sort who are super super OTP, so contemplating another pairing is anathema, even if it ends and the OTP get together. But probably if they did, just X/Y, X/B in the header or something.
